Working on Octonauts fulfilled my long-held dream of working in series animation. I already had considerable experience in children's live action television, and I had spent the following years taking courses and gaining experience wherever I could in animation production.
I worked as the Production Manager for Octonauts season four, working with the Silvergate Media creative producers, animation studio, and show creators to meet production requirements, maintain communication and solve challenges. I was responsible for tracking and maintaining the production schedule, proactively anticipating scheduling issues, developing plans to resolve them and creating detailed calendars for SGM staff. I acted as the point of contact for production with the animation studio, checking in regularly on progress and reporting to the SGM head of production. I also drafted contract requests and reviewed agreements for vendors, talent, writers, and studios with legal department.
Working in production management gave me a unique look at everything that goes into creating an animated series. I wasn't just interested in the creative aspects; I wanted to learn how to develop, plan, run, and deliver a show from start to finish. With amazing support at both Silvergate and Brown Bag Films, I couldn't have asked for a better experience.
