Greatest Inventions with Bill Nye was a children’s educational mini-series produced for the Discovery Channel.
Hosted and narrated by Bill Nye, each episode focused on a theme or genre of technology, with segments focusing on the past, present, and future of a particular invention.
I worked as a Producer and the Head Writer on the mini-series, starting on the initial development of the show and working all the way through production and delivery. While I was overseeing the writing of all the episodes, I was happy to write the Transportation and Energy episodes myself, two topics that I am passionate about. I was also fortunate to work with the writers and segment producers I had gotten to know through Assignment Discovery. Greatest Inventions was a fantastic opportunity for all of us to work on something more aspirational and fun, while still educational and grounded. For our efforts, the series also won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Children's Series.
